As a person long removed from my original roots, I find the values of my adopted land often influenced by that long journey. While pursuing my ceramic art, without obvious intention, my learning experience is often drawn through a reconnection with my deep appreciation of Chinese heritage.

I regard being an artist as a means to create a personal statement in a poetic or spiritual way. The images of the works and the creative mind behind it are the essence of the creations. Work in clay offers me the opportunity to address the flow of the energy, the complete phases of the natural elements and the purity of the art form in three dimensions. I find myself working in various visual directions to express my inner emotions and common experiences which can often be intangible and motionless, given that human existence is rich yet unpredictable, powerful yet fragile.

I am interested in producing works searching for the unity of form and surface design based on a theme incorporating my cultural background, and engaging with contemporary forms of artistic expression. Textures, colours and text are the main approaches on both the wheel-thrown pieces and hand-built works.
